Rufus Wainwright (born July 22, 1973 in Rhinebeck, New York, USA. UU.) Is a singer in U.S. English and French. UU. and Canada. Son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, and brother of the also singer Martha Wainwright. He began playing the piano with 6 years and toured with his family at 13.
His music has a sharp lyrical influences ranging from opera to the French chanson music. Rufus Wainwright knew he was gay in his early teens, but not was only a few years later he could assume it to his family. In a statement, said that the process was "traumatic", as happened in the days when it became known that HIV and AIDS and because of misinformation, spent several years convinced that he would also be a victim of the epidemic.
For five years or so, I thought I would die (from AIDS), because I started having sex at a young age, "he said. Gay publicly stated from the beginning of his career, which somehow made him an icon.
