Steinway & Sons is a piano manufacturing company founded in 1853 in New York by German immigrant Heinrich "Henry" Engelhard Steinway (Steinway is the English adaptation of the name Steinweg).
The company was founded in 1853, in a lot of Varick Street Manhattan. Henry made his first piano in the kitchen of his home in Germany. By the time Henry established Steinway & Sons, had already made 482 pianos. The first produced by the company, number 483, was sold to a family of New York in U $ S 500.
