Requiem for a Dream (Requiem for a dream in Spain and Mexico, Requiem for a Dream in Argentina) is a film estadounidensedel 2000, based on the novel by Hubert Selby Jr., 1978. It was directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans. Ellen Burstyn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress.
SYNOPSIS
Using an imaginative evocation of the inner landscape of human beings who are dying to join, to love and be loved, the film is a parable of the happiness found in a glorious moment and lost in another tragic.

contrast with secluded beaches and worn brick apartment on Coney Island, Requiem for a Dream tells parallel stories that end paths linked by the relationship between the lonely widow Sara Goldfarb ( Ellen Burstyn) and her sweet but clueless son Harry (Jared Leto). The thick Sara, stimulated by the possibility of appearing in a television contest, has begun a dangerous weight-loss diet to appear more beautiful in public. Meanwhile, Harry and his new girlfriend, Marion Silver (Jennifer Connelly), have slowly begun to come clean with each other, using the other to redeem years of isolation and pain. His love is sufficient artificial shelter that allows them to isolate themselves from the real world while they lie on the floor of Marion in the air and build incredible dreams of future happiness. After Harry and his best friend Tyrone C. Love (Marlon Wayans) was launched successfully as drug dealers, the three men begin to believe themselves invincible.
Confident of their first wins, Sara, Harry, Marion and Tyrone convince themselves that some unexpected obstacles are merely circumstantial. Increasingly haggard and disoriented, Sara becomes entrenched in his apartment, where he is besieged by hallucinations. Tenaciously clinging to false hopes, Harry and Marion are separated betraying his love.
